Cryogenic Plant & Distribution System (CPDS) of SST-1 Cryogenics Division facilitates the cool-down of the superconducting magnets to 4.5K and thermal shields to 80K respectively for SST-1 plasma experiments. The section has developed vapour cooled conventional superconducting current leads of 10 kA rating, cryo-lines with multiple process pipes, temperature transmitter for cryogenic sensors, electrical insulation breaks, cryogenic vacuum barriers & dissimilar material joints, etc. The section has experimental facility to test the superconducting current leads of low-temperature superconductor (LTS) & high-temperature superconductor (HTS), superconducting coils and cryogenic temperature calibration etc. CPDS Section has following sub-systems.
